New Animation School in Singapore aims to help world-wide shortage of CG artists
It’s great news for those talented animators out there. Their options have been expanded with the arrival of the world’s leading animation school, Sheridan College from Canada.
With partial support from the EDB, this school is investing S$2.8 million (US$1.8 million) to set up a campus here in September 2008.
With an aim to help in the worldwide shortage of Computer Graphic artists, The Sheridan College hopes to equip students with the skills to be able to deliver their talent both here and abroad.
Students at Sheridan College are boosted to work for major animation studios such as LucasFilms, Pixar and Disney.
With the ongoing promotion of the CG industry, organizers too have been holding workshops at the CG Overdrive Exhibition, where many turned up to check out the massive recruitment drive by LucasFilms and other companies.
Although the industry in Singapore is not fully developed, CG experts believe that Asian CG artists will rise faster than expected.
