Three more schools attain SQC certification

Three more schools have been included in the lists of schools that have been awarded the SQC-

• Cambridge Schools of Language
• Rex Commercial School and
• SGP international Management Academy

The SQC is a business quality award in Singapore and is awarded to businesses that are deemed to have attained a certain mark of quality and standard and have good business practices. It is a national recognition award and is one of the certifications under the Business Excellence Framework.

Private Educational Organisations (PEO) are also assessed through these recognised certifications and as its no child’ play to attain the SQC as most schools agree. One such school that recently attained its SQC certification after years of hard work is Cambridge School of Languages.

Cambridge School of Languages started off as Linguaphone Langauges in 1997 as an exclusive distributor of language of language self-study products, which included books, cassettes and language laboratory equipment in Singapore. A change in sales strategy was needed and the company decided to switch to providing language learning programmes and changed its name to Cambridge School of Languages. In a span of three years, the company established itself as a renowned language-learning centre.

In response to market trends, CSL expanded its activities and started offering language courses, complementing the learning aids. At the initial stage, courses offered were primarily the English language at various levels catering to the needs of the local market. Anticipating a substantial rise in demand for language skills acquisition, CSL broadened its services to include other languages.

The school’s main aim has always been its students and appointing well-trained educators from them. As such, all their teachers go through a very stringent selection process before registering with the Ministry of Education. All the teachers, most of whom are native speakers, have tertiary qualifications with years of teaching experience. Passionate and dedicated, they are well versed in the pedagogy and methodology of language learning. They also provide fascinating insights into the cultural practices of the native speakers of the language.

Currently, Cambridge School of Languages offers a comprehensive selection of language courses. The extensive list includes English, Arabic, Mandarin, French, Hindi, Japanese, Spanish, German, Korean, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, Malay, Italian and Hebrew. Lessons are conducted in day and evening classes on a part-time as well as on a full-time basis.
