MDIS’ confident to welcome its target enrolment of 13,000 by end of the year.

51 strong years going and MDIS is yet to soar higher. The visions of the school’s President Eric Kuan and Secretary-General Dr. R Theyvendran have extended to welcoming 3000 more students to their enrolment by the end of this year.

MDIS’s growing recruitment rate of 25 % per annum could be the reason behind these expectations. The school receives students from over 52 countries which include Vietnam, China, Costa Rica, Indonesia, India, Madagascar, Mauritius, Ghana, Scotland and Italy.

MDIS has come this far today with strong emphasis and focus on students and their growth with a desire to produce confident and employable graduates from their education programmes. They have expanded their school facilities to cater to student’s needs and their latest development speaks of their new-built Uni-campus worth SGD 35 million. They have plans to build a hostel especially for their international students to create a conducive environment for them to study in. However, what is holding them up is infrastructural constraints and the acquisition of suitable sites.

The concern MDIS’ holds for their learners is also highlighted with their charity status earned with the launch of its Education Trust Fund in 2004 to provide financial support for needy students in the form of scholarships and bursaries.

Many students have expressed their satisfaction with the school stating factors like the flexibility and variety of courses that are offered in areas like life sciences, business and marketing, IT, Mass communication, tourism and hospitality. These courses range from certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas and degrees to post graduation degrees.

Another reason for the popularity of the school is the tie- up’s with reputable and credible universities like University of Wales, University of Sunderland, Oklahoma City University, Ottawa University and University of Bradford.

Other students added that they appreciate the creative teaching methods like the practical lessons in mock-up training facilities and frequent study trips.

They are exposed to different cultures through class networking and most working adults find their lessons applicable in real-life work situations.

MDIS’ familiarity with the industries and economies training needs and the ability to follow the nation’s growth ensures that it equips its students with the right theoretical and practical knowledge.

MDIS is aware of competition as countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Dubai are all in efforts to attain the Educational hub status. Nevertheless, they view the education market to be more than ample and hope to sell MDIS to reach an enrolment of 20,000 students in the long run.
